Hi, I'm Michelle, the founder & lead Interior designer at Mood & Mantel. Based in West Lothian, Scotland, I launched Mood & Mantel to make professional interior design accessible online to homeowners throughout the UK.

My passion for interiors began long before Mood & Mantel was created.

Over the years, I developed a deep appreciation for how thoughtful design can transform not only the way a home looks, but also the way it feels. That passion became even more personal during the renovation of our Edwardian family home, where I discovered the power of creating spaces that are both beautiful and practical for everyday life.

Like many homeowners, I experienced the challenge of balancing inspiration with real-world decisions—bringing together colours, textures, furnishings and layouts to create a home that felt cohesive, comfortable and uniquely ours.

What started as a personal passion gradually evolved into a professional calling. After completing a diploma in interior design, I founded Mood & Mantel to help others create homes that reflect their personalities, support their lifestyles and bring joy to everyday living.

A Foundation Built on Experience

Before launching Mood & Mantel, I spent many years in senior commercial leadership roles within the hospitality industry, working with teams to deliver exceptional guest experiences and drive business growth.

Throughout my career, I was involved in several hotel refurbishment and renovation projects, where I gained first-hand experience of how thoughtful design influences the way people interact with and experience a space.

While hospitality and residential interiors may seem quite different, they share a common principle: great spaces should feel intuitive, welcoming and purposeful while reflecting the people who use them.

By combining professional project experience with formal interior design training, I bring both creativity and strategic thinking to every client project.
